Nerdy Friday Fun: Design Your Own Book Cover

Happy Friday, friends!

I just read this fun article on LitHub, and it gave me idears. In it Oliver Munday, book cover designer and author of Head of Household, discusses how the cover of his debut novel came to be. The publisher nixed the idea of him designing the cover himself, which relieved him. He then shares the interview he conducted with Chris Brand, in which he asks Chris questions and also shares some of the design options Brand presented to him.

This all made me wonder how I might design my own book cover, if I ever did write one. I’m not going to, but it was fun to daydream about for a few minutes. All I know is that if I wrote a book, I’d want it to have a happy tone. I love reading books with grit, but I don’t think I’d be good at putting that out into the world myself. I love flowers and have even been given the nickname ‘Petal’ by some of my friends. See the image above? I think I’d do something like that.

Laughing as I type this… Clearly I should stick to writing book reviews, but if I someday write a book, I’ll leave the design to the professionals!

Let’s Discuss

How would you design your book cover? I’m sure you’ve got some fun ideas!
