October 2026 Reading Recap

October started with legends and finished with three generations of women in a book that felt half General Hospital, half Charlie’s Angels, in all the fun ways.

The eight books I finished this month were a good mix of fun and thought-provoking. Some gave me plenty to think about, and others were just a good time. Sometimes both!

Here’s what I read:

  • The Lost Guardian by Natalia Hernandez: 5 Nerds
  • Boudicca by P.C. Cast: 4 Nerds
  • Passengers by Alexander Maksik: 4.75 Nerds
  • I’m a Destroyer by Sean Robins: 4 Nerds
  • Shaw Connolly Lives to Tell by Gillian French: 4 Nerds
  • How to Survive a Horror Movie by Scarlett Dunmore: 4 Nerds
  • The Things We Didn’t Know by Elba Iris Pérez: 4 Nerds
  • The Throwaways by Greta Kelly: 3.5 Nerds

I’m also training myself to listen to audiobooks, and I finished my first one this month: The Things We Didn’t Know! I’m so excited to feel like this is something I can manage and include in my reading life.

The Lost Guardian earned my highest rating, with Passengers close behind. All in all, a pretty good reading month!

Outside of books, I took a trip to Minnesota and then Muscatine, and did Halloween stuff with my Sprigatito, Lina.

Let’s Discuss:
What was your favorite October read? Have you read any of these?

  1. I’m glad you’re making a space in your life for audiobooks. 😀 I hope that before long you’ll feel like you can’t live without them. 😆 I can’t. 🤭
I’m going to look up Passengers since you rated it so highly and the title just makes me inquisitive about it. 🙂
I really enjoyed the book I just finished, The Harbour House. I’m just home from a cruise so I didn’t get much reading in. I hope I can get some more reading in this month.

    1. Thank you! 😄Finishing my first audiobook has me excited to keep going. You may have another convert on your hands! 😂 I’d love to hear what you think if you pick up Passengers. I’m glad The Harbour House was a good read, and I hope you had a wonderful cruise! Here’s to more reading time this month. 📚

  2. You had a great reading month.

I’m also trying to listen to audio more – it’s definitely something I need to work on though, I forget to put my earphones on when I~m doing mundane tasks that would be perfect for multi tasking.
