How many stamps do you have in your passport?
No, not the one you use for international travel. I’m talking about your indie bookstore passport.
According to a recent item in my Shelf Awareness newsletter, Los Angeles is hosting its very first Indie Book Crawl this weekend, July 24-26.
Thirteen independent bookstores throughout the greater Los Angeles area are participating. Readers who spend at least $10 at a participating store will receive a passport stamp. As they collect more stamps, they’ll earn prizes along the way, with those who complete all 13 stops receiving a tote bag and entry into a grand prize drawing featuring a $25 gift card to each participating bookstore.
Several stores will also host special events throughout the weekend, with Los Angeles authors Taylor Jenkins Reid (Atmosphere, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo) and Gabrielle Zevin (Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow) among those making appearances.
