I’m deep into The Reckoning this week, and the vibe is exactly what I want right now. It’s got that 1980s northern California mood, fog and quiet roads and a woman who seems to be outrunning more than one kind of danger. New murders are popping up that look a lot like the one that took her sister, and the tension is steady without feeling frantic.
Every time I sit down with it, I feel content. The book has that kind of pull where I settle in and just let it unravel at its own pace. I’m intrigued, I’m relaxed, and I’m invested in seeing how all of this ties together.
If it keeps this tone, I’m expecting a strong finish and maybe a little nail-biting along the way.
