Hello friends! I have a little announcement to share before today’s review goes live.
After a lot of thought (and more late-night brainstorming than I care to admit), I have decided to return to the name I Speak Book Nerd. This was the first blog name I ever created, and no matter how many ideas I have tested, it is the one that feels the most me: quirky, bookish, and completely unique.
For now the web address will stay the same (shelfesteemdotcom.wordpress.com) while I keep building content and prepare for a custom domain. In the coming months the site will officially move to ispeakbooknerd.com, but you do not have to do anything. Your subscriptions and email updates will continue automatically, and all links will redirect once the new address goes live.
What is not changing?
- My voice-driven reviews and regular posting schedule.
- The mix of galleys, classics, and character-driven fiction you come here to read about.
Thank you for following along as this little corner of the internet grows. I am excited to bring I Speak Book Nerd back to life and to share many more reviews with you, starting with today’s new post.
Happy reading,
Terry
So happy for you. It’s a big moment, migrating to your own web address and designing the page. I recently did it, and it was just as exhilarating as it was stressful.
Congratulations ❤️
Thank you so much! I’m really looking forward to it.
Just be aware that while WP.com will forward all of your links from the dotwordpressdotcom address to your new custom url, if you should ever go back to the free domain, they will NOT change all of your custom domain urls back to the dotwordpressdotcom address. So you will end up with tons of dead links. Just be aware of that.
Good luck and cheers!
Thank you so very much for that information!
I know this from sad personal experience. I went dotblog for a year or two and during that time every link led to bookstooge.blog. When I went back to the free plan, all my links from that time still pointed to dotblog. So now I have to manually edit a couple of years worth of posts :-/
Oof, that sounds brutal! Thanks again for the heads-up. I never would’ve guessed those links wouldn’t auto-redirect. I’ll definitely keep this in mind if I ever get tempted to jump plans. Good luck slogging through the edits; that’s a special kind of blogging nightmare. Give me a shout once you’ve got things running the way you want!
